Nuke Plants - Earthquakes

quote:

Tokyo (AFP) May 7, 2009
The world's largest nuclear plant will on Friday receive formal approval to resume operations, two years after it was shut down following a strong earthquake off the Japanese coast, the local government said

Terra Daily

Perhaps the U.S. as well as other countries seeking to rush headlong into new nuclear plant construction to solve climate change might consider the ramifications of an earthquake. While this plant didnt recieve damages that threatened the human population, the loss of its electric production for 2 years shows the folly of relying on nuclear as the great savior.

What would the Haiti situation be if on top of the catastrophic damage caused by the quake, they had a reactor which split open and leaked radiation.

Boy, that would be a mess, eh.

I wonder of there are maps available to the general public showing all the fault lines. It would be interested to see how close nuclear plants are to them.
