posticon FLEX FUEL CONVERSION

Heres a story to follow. The Editor of EV world has converted a 1998 Chevy S-10 to flex fuel and has just tried it out with E-50 to see how it does. Lucky for him he lives in an area where E-85 is available. The comments to his article are interesting too. Someone has come out with a flex fuel conversion kit for the Prius.

Re: FLEX FUEL CONVERSION

It would have been more interesting to me if the author had been able to give a little more detailed technical info. I realize that he is writing to appeal to the "Ethanol for Dummies" type market(LOL, there's nothing wrong with that, we are ALL dummies at something or other until we've tried it).

But the wiring thing does not make sense to me. The only problem with the conversion should be with the fuel lines---replacing the parts that could be subject to corrosion from the ethanol---not anything to do with the electrical system.

Interesting read though Agnes, let me know if you run across any follow ups--I'd be interested to hear what he has to say.

Re: FLEX FUEL CONVERSION

I get a monthly newsletter from EV world and he has promised some follow ups. If its anything interesting I will post a note here.
Im personally interested in learning about the DYI aspects since I hope at some time in the future I can retrofit my car to flex fuel. Im sure my hubby can do it. (if it doesnt take Fl. forever to make ethanol available)
