posticon A Plan for the Transition to a Post Carbon World

This group has written a proposal outlining how to transition to a post carbon world which they have submitted to President Obama.

Please read it and post a comment on it, here.

They're suggestions are all things we have talked about at EnviroWS. Sadly, they seem to have found no immediate solution for getting the masses eagerly involved. The same brick wall we have hit. They also allow readers to leave a comment on their site, which of course I did.

Here's the message I left for them:

Comments:

To decentralize our efforts down to the grass roots I suggest the following site:

http://www.runboard.com/benvirows.f2.t63

To promote Sustainable Development "from the bottom up", we propose using letter-to-the-editor campaigns and op-ed pieces to raise public awareness, build consensus and create community based citizen-activist networks.

Such an endeavor has, in itself, enormous educational potential, particulary for the young.

If you could lend a hand in spreading the message of our work we, in turn, would be be deeply beholding.

Ecologically, Frank Cote

Re: A Plan for the Transition to a Post Carbon World

I try to put a plug in for us whenever I can.

I believe the current crises (ecological, climatological, financial, economic and geopolitical) may be god-sends in disguise: they show the system is busted, too busted to fix and needs immediate replacement. God sent this opportunity to us as well as the brains to exploit it; it's up to us to use those brains to figure out how.

There is a weird Karmic irony in all this: the greed of the boomers has caught up with them in THIS life - they didn't even have to die to get their "karmupance", their karmic payback. It's the boomers' early retirement plans that are now being scattered to the 4 winds by the combined financial / economic crisis. I never imagined it would be so quick: talk about "instant karma"!
